Over the years Renee (Shown here at an event with her mom) has been involved in a variety of creative endeavors. Her first artistic business venture was as a soft sculpture artist designing and creating teddy bears, dolls and other soft sculpture creations. During this time Renee established herself with her own unique design style incorporating a real flair for whimsy and humor. So unique was her style that she was even featured in “The Complete Book of Teddy Bears”, by author Ted Mention.
Renee is trained as a designer & seamstress and was a regular fixture in the costuming department for the local college. With this experience she sought out more challenges by designing numerous royal costumes for the local Renaissance Faires.
Along with all of her creative endeavors Renee also got involved in doing volunteer work for the local Basset Hound rescue organization and Humane Society. She soon had a stable of her own rescued hounds. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before Renee applied her talents to the breed she loves so dearly.
Renee's very first yard/garden decorations she made were simply for her own pleasure, but at the encouragement of a fellow rescue group member, Renee made up a few more designs and took them to the next Basset event. They were, to say the least, a hit!
Today, there are over 100 unique Basset themed designs and more on the drawing board.
Renee has also been commissioned by the Basset Hound Club of Southern California and the Basset Hound Club of America to produce custom pieces for national events.
Renee's yard & garden decorations are simply the beginning. Renee has designs for Basset sculpture figurines, garden statuary and more apparel.
